The blood red Easter egg of the Celtic Druids may have been a symbol of a Red Giant star, which was a pregnant sun to the Dogon.Dorey, The Rose p. 231 The Dogon described the Red Giant star, which symbolized the Nummo, as exploding as a supernova to create life in the Universe.Dorey, The Rose pp. 405-407
Every year the Celtic Druids searched for the blood-red Easter egg, called the glain, by the seashore. In Celtic myth, the red egg was laid by a sea serpent goddess, which describes the Nummo, who were fish and serpent-like beings.Dorey, The Rose p. 230
The Nummo, who were identified with the sacred feminine, were symbolized by the first Red Giant star in space, known as the Po Pilu.Dorey, The Rose p. 234 The Po Pilu star was depicted using a red egg-shaped stone altar covered with clay that the Dogon brought with them when they first came to the Cliff of Bandiagara in Mali.Dorey, The Rose p. 234
Orion Nebula ESA/Hubble
After a red giant star explodes as a supernova, it forms gas and dust particles known as a nebula. The Orion Nebula, shown above, is an example of a stellar nursery, where new planets and stars are being born. It is visible to the naked eye and is the middle "star" in the Sword of Orion.Dorey, The Rose p. 115
"Observations of the nebula have revealed approximately 700 stars in various stages of formation within the nebula."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_Nebula This would make the Orion Nebula, which is the closest region of massive star formation to Earth, a perfect regenerative symbol for the roles Red Giant stars play in the Dogon religion.Dorey, The Rose p. 115
